Bund

One of the most important landmarks in Shanghai is certainly the Bund. Stretching 1.6 kilometers along the Huangpu River, the Bund was formerly known as Asia's "Wall Street". Along China's most famous waterfront, impressive buildings from the 1930s line up. One of the most elegant and famous among them is the Peace Hotel, which, after renovation, now shines again in its old glory overlooking the port and offering breathtaking views to its guests. The riverside park along the Bund is a popular meeting place for both Chinese and tourists. Occasionally, you can find street performers there. In the early morning, visitors can observe people of all ages practicing shadow boxing, martial arts, and dancing. In the side streets, you can still discover restaurants and shops with the charm of the twenties and thirties. The ultimate shopping paradise and Shanghai's "5th Avenue" tempt with China's greatest variety of stores, restaurants, boutiques, and cozy clubs.
