In the north and northwest of the province, there stretches a desert landscape. This includes parts of the Gobi Desert as well as the Taklamakan Desert. The expansive desert landscape is well-developed for tourism at least along its edges. There are well-maintained hotel facilities and tourist attractions such as camel riding, traditional equestrian performances, or desert vehicle rides. Due to temperatures, the best time to travel is at the beginning of autumn.
