The city of Kashgar is a significant trade center in the People's Republic of China. Located in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, it lies at China's westernmost border and is considered a meeting point of the southern, northern, and middle routes of the ancient Silk Road. Today, numerous relics from past days and various religions can still be found here. The Id Kah Mosque remains the largest mosque in all of China. Impressively, week after week, thousands of people from the surrounding areas gather at the market along the banks of the Tuman River.
