The Tianshan Mountains, located in the northwestern Chinese autonomous region of Xinjiang, are approximately 2,450 kilometers long and 400 kilometers wide. This makes them roughly twice the size of the Alps and yet largely untouched. There are around 16,000 glaciers in the range, which is also home to 1,700 snow leopards.
The highest peaks of the Tianshan Mountains are the "Peak of Victory" at 7,439 meters and the "Lord of the Spirits" at 7,010 meters.
