The karst region covers an area of half a million square kilometers and is mainly located in the provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou, and Guangxi. South China is unique due to its variety of karst formations and is home to three of the world's most impressive examples of humid tropical to subtropical karst landscapes: Libo, Shilin, and Wulong. The Stone Forests in Shilin are described as a unique natural phenomenon. This grouping includes the Naigu Stone Forest made of dolomitic limestone and the Suyishan Stone Forest, which rises from a lake. Shilin also boasts a vast diversity of colors and shapes. The tower- and cone-shaped karst formations in Libo, which are unmatched worldwide like those in Shilin, create a unique and beautiful landscape.
